Sorry for the glitch in the vid toward the middle, but it is an old recording. This is part 2 of 2 of a clip from an old episode of 20/20 that I recorded in like 1987 maybe. It focuses on the heavy metal music of the time, high school age metal fans, and stuff like the PMRC. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden is interviewed. Also, since the end of this part is clipped, the rest of the dialogue from the transcript is as follows: Phillips: But the point is, tune in and let it be known that whether you like the music or not, it matters, because the kids matter. Walters: Oh dear. God, it’s a tough time, and it’s always a tough period for kids.

My boyfriend is Japanese and he told me one of the courses he took in his school was propaganda desensitizing class where they learn to watch/listen any form of media from music/commercials/cartoons and point out propaganda and avoid them… No wonder those kids there in japan seems so calmer and respectable than here. We need those classes here.

I grew up listening to Metal in the 80’s – and I’m still a devoted fan of that music. It never had a negative effect on my life, Metal – with all it’s excess – sex, drugs, rock & roll, long hair, spandex, video vixens – in retrospect, all seems so innocent!
Metal causes nothing, and prevents nothing…people just “over-reaacting”.

I’m almost 20 now, and I started listening to Heavy Metal long ago and some of my friends were also excited by this music…but when they finished school they all cut their hair and started to work at a bank and wear suits….just becoming some conformist slaves….I mostly broke up the contact with them

This documentary is pretty cool but kinda stereotyping metal in a lot of ways, like just because someone listens to this music doesn’t mean they have problems or they don’t fit in, sometimes they just like it, thats all there is to it.
